Between the Ends

A luminous sculpture that inhabits the fragile space between opposites. Defined by light, contrast, and transformation, it reveals how design can move beyond function to become a narrative in form and material. Unlike other works in our collection, Between the Ends was conceived as a collectible design piece, created not only as a functional light object but also as a conceptual exploration. It reflects on the dialogue between closure and continuation and translates these ideas into material and form.

A diffuse glass tube carries light between two ceramic terminations, each one unique in shape and surface. Smooth, structured, or eroded, these ends embody contrasting temporalities of decay and renewal. The silver-glazed finish adds another layer: reflective and precious, yet unstable, it shifts with light and perspective, implicating the viewer directly in the object’s presence.

Formed at the intersection of digital processes and ceramic craftsmanship, this interplay of technology and craft highlights adaptability and experimentation as central values. Designed as a modular system, the ceramic elements can be exchanged, rearranged, or extended, offering flexibility and variation. Between the Ends inhabits both functional and conceptual dimensions, illuminating not just space, but questions of continuity, fragility, and transformation.
